A town of only 60 people, Montegiove is located in the north western part of Umbria just 3 kms away from the eccentric park, La Scarzuola (post to follow soon).
A hidden corner of Umbria that very few know about, Montegiove has a very tiny piazza, a bell tower and a single bar/caffe (yes, you read that right).
The only caffe in town provides fresh and rich Umbrian delicacies with an option of outdoor sitting that has a spectacular view of the Umbrian countryside.
It has a handwritten menu and a suave interior. I cannot forget my meal of fresh panini and artichokes that I ate there. Montegiove is a retreat from all the other towns of Umbria; a quiet place to plan an Italian holiday.
Just 45 minutes from Perugia and about 2 hours from Florence, this town deserves a visit. It is also near to the beautiful Citta del Pieve.
In my opinion taking a tour of the Castello di Montegiove and then staying at their B&B is the perfect option to explore this area. To know more about my experience at the Castello check here.
Ciao Ciao! 🙂
