I heard of the Cinque Terre while planning my very first trip to Italy. I saw some pictures online and immediately fell in love with the colored coastal towns. For those not aware, the word “Cinque Terre” means “Five Lands” and constitute the villages of Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso el Mare.

The villages are located in the Liguria region of Italy.

Here are some pictures that I captured there while trekking, eating, pondering, imagining, walking…… Watch that sunset!

Traveler’s Tip:

I stayed in Biassa– a quiet mountain town away from the touristy mess of the Cinque Terre (which can get a little overwhelming in the summer) Biassa to Cinque Terre is only 15 minutes by car. There is a B&B as well as a hostel in the area. The hostel offers a daily shuttle.

Have you been to the Cinque Terre?? Check these books based in the region. Rick Steves Pocket Italy’s Cinque Terre is a good guide on planning a trip there.
