5 More Charming Small Towns in Italy
1. Murano:
Murano is an island only 15 minutes away from Venice. Known for glass making across the world, it is often overshadowed by its colorful neighbor Burano. But Murano is equally charming with stunning glass stores, beautiful bridges and quaint streets.
It’s hard to miss the glass shops selling chandeliers, souvenirs and jewelry of every kind. Everything is so exquisite and expensive here but Murano is really worth the walk and turns out to be a charming little small town of Italy.
Murano can be reached by vaporetto/ferry from Venice. It’s only 2 kms away!

2. Fiesole:
Fiesole is 15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Florence where yo won’t hear the noise of the big city here.
Fiesole is the perfect break from Florence and can be reached by taking the ATAF bus 7 from the centre of Florence. A typical small Italian town with a laid back vibe, narrow alleys and beautiful cafes, Fiesole is a perfect Tuscan getaway.

3. Monopoli:
Another fabulous small town village in Italy is Monopoli in the region of Puglia. Monopoli is only a 5 minutes train ride from Polignano a mare.
It has a huge harbour and a very authentic Puglian vibe. Even though the historic centre finishes as soon as one reaches, the town is lovely for a quick day trip. The locals are very warm and very friendly!

4. Gallipoli:
Another beautiful small town in Puglia is Gallipoli. It is about an hour and a half from Lecce and has the most pretty views. Gallipoli can be reached by train from Lecce and is as warm and inviting as any other town in the region.
The smell of freshly made orecchiette pasta will take your breath away!

5. Orvieto:
Orvieto is one of my favorite towns in Umbria which also happens to be an easy day trip from Rome. It is famous for its magnificent Duomo and the Orvieto Classico wine. The town has a bell tower from where you can get sweeping views of the Umbrian countryside and an underground town that dates back to the Etruscans!!

6. Ostuni:
Another small town in Puglia is the white washed town of Ostuni. It is worth basing yourself for a month to take advantage of the olive groves and stunning seaside around. Ostuni has a beautiful piazza and several Bars and churches.
