Caffè al Bicerin dal 1763

Want a little slice of heaven in Turin?? Consider visiting Caffè al Bicerin to have BICERIN! Caffe al Bicerin is a historic old world café which has been running since 1763 (dal 1763). This is the only place in the city that claims to have invented the drink called Bicerin and serves it “authentically”. Having a Bicerin should be on top of your list for things to do in Turin.

My Bicerin

Caffè al Bicerin dal 1763

But what is a Bicerin??

Bicerin is quite simply a drink of espresso, chocolate and cream.

This sinful drink topped with a secret ingredient from the makers of the café is a must try when in Turin.

Bicerin was invented by Caffè al Bicerin centuries ago and has since then retained it’s recipe, style and production.

The legacy as always goes with things in Italy, is astounding!

At Caffe al Bicerin you will most definitely be transported to another time. The interior is laden with dimly lit candles and white marble table tops. I found myself sitting on the same seat that years ago Italy’s first Prime Minister sat in. It was such a treat!

The Secret of Bicerin

One of the most intriguing points to note about this place is that it is ONLY run by women!! Perhaps that is the secret to it being the best producer of Bicerin in the world.

What do you think?? 😉

Price of Bicerin

I should warn you though that a Bicerin comes at a whooping price of €6. I was quite surprised when I paid for it myself but I can tell that it is completely worth the cost, at least once in your life (okay okay, more than once!).

If you’re in North Italy, don’t miss visiting the city of Turin and trying out a Bicerin or two. They also serve snacks and coffee. Furthermore, they have a cute specialty store next door which is full of delicious chocolate products!

I used to live not far from the santuario della consolata! Try the Neo Head Bar nearby, hopefully it’s still open and their Bicerin is at a fraction of the price…

6 Euros doesn’t seem so much for the old-world charm when you compare it with the prices of Starbucks.

Absolutely but it’s a little shock especially when you are used to pay dirt cheap prices for coffee in Italy. But then this was special

This looks lovely. 2018 must be the year in which I return to Torino since I’ve not been there since I was a small child. I remember it well though, especially the Mole Antonelliana. Did you know that in Venetian dialect, bicerin means ‘a quick drink’ as in ‘Vustu un bicerin?’ ‘Do you want a quick drink?’
