The Historical Ambience of L'Orangerie, Modica

If you’re looking for a place to stay in Modica, I highly recommend booking B&B L’Orangerie. A 19th Century Palazzo in the historic centre, L’Orangerie is a simple bed and breakfast situated on Via Corso Umberto. Owned by locals Giovanni Cartia and his family, L’Orangerie makes a perfect base to see the the main sights of Modica. Moreover, the historical ambiance of L’Orangerie is serene and lovely- just what you need for your Sicilian trip!

Where to Stay in Modica-L’Orangerie

Why Book L’Orangerie

The Bed & Breakfast L’Orangerie is in the heart of the town and everything is just 5 minutes walking distance. The best Bars, restaurants and stores are 5-7 minutes from here as is the Duomo!

I visited Modica in mid April when it was already hot and humid. But since L’Orangerie is an old Palazzo, the interiors of the palazzo were cool. They were a welcome relief after a long day and were vibrant and tastefully done.

L’Orangerie’s rooms are simple and basic but also big enough to move around. There is a double sized bed, terrace, attached bathroom with toiletries, reading lamp + magazines (enough to challenge my Italian reading skills).

The check in and out was simple as they give you a key when you come.

Breakfast in L’Orangerie

L’Orangerie’s breakfast was lavish and delicious. It was an international treat with an Italian touch! I was served an unlimited choice of Sicilian cold cuts, cakes, bread, jams along with a choice of coffee and juice.

L’Orangerie is a great place to stay in Modica and deserves attention because it has so much to offer. Furthermore, if you are a book lover, this place is perfect for you because the TV show “Commissario Montalbano” is shot here, especially around Duomo di San Pietro of Modica. How to Reach Modica:

Reaching Modica is easy. Fly to Catania from any of the main cities in Italy and then take an AST bus to Modica which takes around 2-2.5 hours.

My favourite part of Europe is Sicily, yet no matter how many times I visit, each time shows me another aspect of that lovely country. I haven’t been to Modica yet, but will get there – eventually. The trouble is, I mean to stay only a couple of days or so and end up spending a week which means something has to be postponed until another time.

I understand that feeling. I haven’t done that in Italy as my stay has always been more planned but I have had the feeling to stay longer in a particular place. Italy has that effect on you. Where have you been in Sicily??

Nice post! I’m ready to go and explore this place myself. Your photos just convince me further that everything the Italians do is done with artistic flair.

Your BnB looks delightful. When I am travelling solo, I am happier to stay in BnB’s. They are more personal and friendly for me. Love the cute little dishes and bowls.
