Castello di Poppiano is perched on the cascading hills of Tuscany. Only a short drive from Florence, it is located in Montespertoli and belongs to the Guicciardini family. A very powerful name in Tuscany, Guicciardini houses many Florentine masterpieces since the difficult times of World War II.
Poppiano is not very big but perfect for a day to just relax. Have wine or go for a bike ride in the Tuscan hills and enjoy the views. The castle has a production of olive oil and wine since the 15th century. There are also several varieties to taste and purchase at a shop. It is a quiet area that will keep you away from the city life of Florence.
Make sure to climb the tower of the Poppiano castle to see the lush green views of Chianti especially those tall gorgeous cypress trees that we always associate Tuscany with. I could stay there for hours! Of course with a glass of wine in my hand!
Have you been for a wine tasting in Tuscany?? What’s your favorite place??
How to Reach– Best way to reach this castle is to hire a car. There are several tours from Florence that can take you to this region of Tuscany. I took one with a rental company years ago (unfortunately they don’t operate no more)
